Perfect Prime Rib Roast

Prime rib, also called a standing rib roast, is a luxurious cut of beef celebrated for its tenderness, marbling, and deep flavor. This method delivers a beautifully roasted prime rib with minimal effort—perfect for holidays and special occasions.

Ingredients

  • Standing Rib Roast (1 bone per adult, bones tied back on by butcher)

  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil

  • Lawry’s Seasoned Salt

  • Lawry’s Seasoned Pepper
Note: Ingredient amounts are approximate and can be adjusted to taste.

Instructions

  1. Prep the Roast: Ask your butcher to cut the bones off of the roast and tie the bones back on for easy slicing and maximum flavor. Let the roast sit at room temperature for about 2 hours before cooking.

  2. Season: Rub the entire roast with olive oil. Generously season all sides with Lawry’s Seasoned Salt and Pepper.

  3. Roast: Preheat oven to 500 degrees. Place the roast on a rack in a roasting pan. Roast for 45 minutes at 500 degrees. Turn off the oven and do not open the door. Let the roast continue cooking for 10 minutes per pound.

  4. Rest: Remove the roast and tent loosely with foil. Rest for 20–30 minutes before slicing to retain juices.

  5. Serve: Untie the bones, slice, and enjoy with au jus or horseradish sauce.
